Here is my newest small drawing I created of 3 trees that are growing independent of one another, but near to each other.

They seem to share a particular location in fantasyland.

I would like to draw and paint more pieces that incorporate more than one tree.

Here is my newest drawing of a tree, that is an abstract representation of a mother and child.
The mother tree has some of her limbs protectively placed near her child. :)

Here is my newest painting of an imaginary tree, that I created using gouache paint on 300 lb. watercolor paper.
This piece is 6.25 x 7 inches.

I think it exudes a feeling of tranquility and that the branches are graceful and delicate.

This drawing, that I completed tonight, measures 6.25 x 7.5 inches.
It is a complex arrangement of lines that create shapes that are lyrical and turbulent.

Two New Paintings of Trees

Here are 2 recently painted renditions of trees. In each painting, there is more than one tree!
Who knows, perhaps I am at the start of a new direction for my work, in creating renditions of more than one tree.

What I do know, for sure, is that I continue to love creating single trees with different personalities. :)

I am very pleased with this drawing that I call, "Summer Tree."

The touches of green that I use in this drawing represent leaves to me in some way, even though the tree is bare.
I suppose I am very pleased with the tree's shape.

my newest Red Tree

My newest painting of a red tree is here. It has quite a few touches of purple and magenta in addition to red and a couple of other colors.
I have entitled this painting, "Clear Red Tree."

I completed this painting of a tree tonight, I am delighted to say.
And, working on it, was a joyful experience, too!

This drawing is small, measuring 4 x 6 inches. I created it using acid-free pens on 140 lb. Canson paper.

Under Mother's Watchful Eye by Nina Kuriloff

I call this drawing of mine, "Under Mother's Watchful Eye."
In this drawing the mother tree is very protective of the baby tree, who is her daughter.

The protectiveness of mothers towards their children is a universal theme.

The last few days have been inordinately draining, from an emotional viewpoint. And as a result, I find myself drawing trees. I just seem to find comfort in the act of creating trees.

My pens and paper are very portable. I am very grateful that this
is the case.

I have a 2.5 hour plane trip ahead and I look forward to working on a new drawing of a tree as soon as I am settled on the plane tonight.

New Bare Brown Tree

It's been awhile since I have drawn or painted a tree.
I completed this piece tonight and am glad I did.
I am very pleased with this drawing. I like its feeling of delicacy and the spidery shapes that are part of it.
I saw a tree on the way home from work that sparked my interest; this particular tree was the inspiration for this particular drawing.

I used new pens with a thicker point to create parts of this drawing....these pens are very vibrant in color.

This was a fun piece to work on.

This is the drawing that I began working on, as I sat on a subway train for 45 minutes.
I continued working on it, while listening to the Clinton/Obama debate on television tonight.
This drawing is surreal and I think the use of color is psychedelic.

This is a new drawing, one that I created a few days ago.
The base of the tree is broader than my other trees.
Perhaps I would like to pay more attention to the roots of trees, in the future.

This is my newest painting, that I completed tonight.

I was concerned about its asymmetry and perhaps being out of balance.
After mulling it over, I've decided that it works.

This is a small-sized drawing of a bare tree that I completed tonight. This drawing is comprised of 3 colors which are brown, black and purple. There is more brown in this drawing than any of the other colors.
This is a graceful and lonely tree.

So, I tried to appreciate Palm Trees

I spent 3 days in Florida and viewed many varieties of palm trees.

I enjoyed viewing quite a few of them. The bark of these trees varies and is rather interesting. Also, I found the leaves or fronds of these trees to be attractive, as well.

Somehow, the shapes of Palm trees are not nearly as interesting to me, as the trees in the Northeast part of the U.S.A.

I really went out of my way to try and appreciate Palm and Coconut trees. My efforts were to no avail.
Ha!

first drawing for 2008

This is my first completed work of art for 2008!
I started this drawing several months ago and decided to complete it.

It's a tree that seems to have spiders living within it.

I love bare trees......

I have always preferred the beauty of leafless trees. It is at this time that one can fully appreciate the shape of the tree's trunk and network of branches!

So many trees have exquisite shapes.

I could spend hours on flickr admiring photographs of leafless trees.

I like to create trees using the color pink, amongst other colors.

Oddly enough, I used to hate the color pink. I used to think of it as being an ostentatious color worn by superficial people.
Now, I think it's a very cool color that exudes a feeling of cheerfulness.
:-)

And so, here is my pink tree that I created in 2006.
It is 6 x 4 inches.
I suppose I can easily say that I enjoy working on a small scale.

My passion for creating trees has not waned at all.


Here is my newest rendition of a tree that is mostly brown.

I do have quite a few favorites, but this one is quite special to me.

I like the rounded shape of this tree and the delicate branches that have a nice flow to them.
I also find this image to be rather hypnotic.

The title of this drawing is:
"Rounded Tree"

Ecstasy Tree

This drawing measures 8.5 x 5.5 inches.
I created it with archival pens on paper.

When I completed it I felt the emotion the tree conveys is that of ecstasy.
That is how it seemed to me a few days ago.
I will have to re-evaluate this.

But, the title was meaningful to me very soon after completion of this artwork and I will keep it as is.

Tree with Embryo Within

This is one of my favorite drawings of trees.
I find it very precious and will therefore place a high monetary value on it.

It is small, measuring 4.5 x 4 inches.
And, it does contain an embryo within it.

it's been too long since my last tree

It has been weeks since I created my last painting of a tree.

This is an awful state of affairs.

What is holding me back from painting?
I wish I knew.
But, perhaps it is simply a lack of inspiration?

It is a very bold piece that measures 7" x 7."
I used the finest quality gouache and 300 lb. Saunders paper, to create this image.

It is very bold and colorful.

And, I am delighted to say, I started a new painting of a tree that is predominantly green in color.
I am very excited about how it is coming along.

Original miniature Drawing of Tree Landscape

This is a small-sized landscape with a surrealistic edge that was a bit of a challenge for me.

Soon the trees will not be bare!

I enjoy viewing bare trees because the shapes of the trunks and branches of trees are viewable.

After trees are in full leaf, the skeleton of the tree is covered and much of the tree's beauty is not apparent.
