Small Painting of three trees - Magenta rules!

This is a very small painting measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches. I began this painting, creating magenta clouds....
There are 3 trees here, in the colors of purple, magenta and black. And, there is an ovoid shape within the black tree. I have entitled this painting, "The Ovoid in the Tree."

Blue Tree painting - blue & purple

This painting is 5 x 7 inches.
I created using gouache on paper. I typically paint with watercolor paint on 300 pound paper.

I challenged myself to create a painting only using the colors of black and white. And, so I created this small painting that is a rendition of 2 gray trees and one black tree, that is in the foreground.

Blue Tree and Gray Clouds - A Wintry Day

I just completed painting this "Blue Tree & Gray Clouds," that measures approximately 4 x 6 inches. I created this piece using gouache on paper. It is a lone tree that is coping beautifully, on a cold and cloudy day.

Small Landscape Painting - 1/2013

Her is my new small painting (in gouache on paper) that measures 3 x 5 inches!
It is certainly small in size. I very often work on a small scale.
This piece was time consuming to create, regardless of its size. There were certain details that I wanted to render in a particular way and so I needed to apply many layers of paint in order to create what I had in mind.
It is always difficult to know when a painting is completed; the smallness of this piece made it easier to "know" when it was completed...
The palette is a cool one.

Purple Tree - swirling branches

This is my painting of a tree, that is mostly purple in color.... It is new for me in that I purposely did not pay closest attention to details, in an attempt to loosen up in my work.

Here is my newest painting of a red tree, and perhaps the last for 2012. This red tree thrives despite the rain, snow and windiness of the harsh winter it is experiencing!

This painting is of a tree that is surrounded by a cloudy sky. It is also bare of leaves. It is feeling a sense of loneliness.

This piece began very nicely and then slowly became very challenging...But, I accepted the challenge, as I always do, when creating trees....
And, I am pleased to say that I am now satisfied with the resulting drawing, which I call, "Black & Purple Tree."
